MK Kredit Romania and MK Kredit Moldova have each received a first-time Long-Term Issuer Default Rating of ‘B-’ from Fitch Ratings, with a Stable Outlook. Both companies are ALTERNATIVE portfolio companies, managed by MK Global Kapital Sàrl. Fitch’s assessment credits the management company’s oversight directly, noting that continuous guidance and monitoring strengthens the credit profiles of its portfolio companies.
A people-first approach in both markets
Both companies operate under MK Global Kapital’s Seven-Action Framework, introduced in May 2026, which puts people at the centre of every financing decision, from keeping a human point of contact in digital services to ensuring loan reaches those traditional lenders overlook. MK Kredit Moldova and MK Kredit Romania have translated this into their own “human-first finance” principles. The stories below show what that looks like in practice.
Romania: a decade of steady growth
MK Kredit Romania has grown every year since it began lending in 2016, establishing itself as one of the leaders of Romania’s microfinance market with a nationwide presence. Fitch found its finances in good order: profits are healthy for a company of its size, and the leverage is low. The company comfortably meets every regulatory and lender requirement in place. Fitch also rates its subordinated secured debt ‘B-’, backed by a pool of pledged receivables. Agriculture makes up 63% of its loan book. In MK Global Kapital’s own 2025 client survey, 64% of MK Kredit Romania’s clients reported an income increase and 78% reported an improved quality of life. That financial strength is built loan by loan. Viorica Hîrtopanu runs a 150-cow dairy farm near Iași. When a storm damaged her barn, MK Kredit Romania financing helped her repair it and keep investing, in new flooring, insulation and machinery, rather than simply patching problems as they arose. Moldova: a lender that is getting stronger
MK Kredit Moldova’s loan book has improved by size and quality. The share of loans running late fell by almost half over the past year, from 6.4% to 3.4%, as the company worked through a legacy of past problem loans. The capital adequacy ratio of 30% remains robust. The conditions for its farming customers improved. Agriculture accounts for 41% of its loans. It splits funding evenly between its management company and international development lenders, a mix Fitch views favourably.
MK Kredit Moldova operates through 10 branches nationwide. In its own 2025 ESG Report, 62% of surveyed clients reported an income increase, 68% reported an improved quality of life and 58% were based in rural areas. The company also signed the Women’s Empowerment Principles in 2025.
MK Kredit Moldova’s financing also backs the country’s shift toward energy independence. Leader Energy, a solar installer, used its financing to buy equipment at scale and take on larger contracts, growing its team from 3 to 10. Read Leader Energy’s story and MK Kredit Moldova’s 2025 ESG Report.
The same week, Fitch also assigned a first-time rating to MK Leasing Uzbekistan.
