Women entrepreneurs – The backbone of local economies

Female entrepreneurs in Kyrgyzstan and Armenia are building thriving businesses with microfinance, creating jobs, growth, and opportunity.

Behind every thriving community, there is a woman turning a vision into reality. At ALTERNATIVE Securitisation Fund, we have seen firsthand how female entrepreneurs are not just running businesses—they are building legacies that fuel local economies and transform lives.

Real stories, real impact

Albina, a passionate educator in Kyrgyzstan, had a dream of shaping young minds. She founded a private kindergarten, creating a safe and nurturing environment for children while providing jobs for local teachers. However, logistical challenges—like unreliable transportation—threatened to slow her progress.

In 2024, she discovered Mikro Leasing Kyrgyzstan on Instagram and took a step toward greater efficiency. Leasing a Hyundai Sonata gave her the mobility she needed to manage daily operations seamlessly, reducing costs and ensuring that her kindergarten runs smoothly. Today, her business is thriving, and the impact reaches far beyond the classroom walls.

Meanwhile, in Armenia, Marine has spent over a decade building her beauty salon in Gyumri, the ancient Armenian capital. What started with an initial investment of US$50,000 has grown into a thriving business that not only provides beauty services but also trains the next generation of stylists. When she needed to upgrade her equipment, Mikro Kapital Armenia was there to provide financing—an investment that allowed her to expand her customer base and improve service quality.

Creating sustainable change

These stories are not isolated cases. Across the regions we serve, women are using microfinance to build businesses, hire local staff, and invest in their families’ futures.

The statistics speak volumes:

  • 86% of our female clients report an improved quality of life,
  • 77% have seen a rise in income,
  • 57% have increased spending on home improvements,
  • 35% are investing more in their children’s education.

When women succeed, entire communities flourish. This International Women’s Day let’s celebrate the resilience and impact of women in business. By supporting female entrepreneurs, we create a ripple effect of growth, opportunity, and empowerment.
